It’s making no sense, but for some reason most of the top video game makers in 日本 are ruthlessly attacking our innocent and beloved places of past time enjoyment… our video game bars!

Brian Ashcraft @ Kotaku, has recently reported on the latest efforts by companies such as Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Capcom, Konami, and others to quell the playing of their video games in establishments known as video game bars.

There have actually been arrests as a result of this recent persecution! What sense is this making? We have generations of people now that have grown up with traditional 8, 16, 64 bit and higher consoles that have now cemented their place as an absolute PASTIME in 日本 and abroad. As a result, naturally people want to drink and play games socially in public places – not just their living rooms. What is our government doing to allow this gross manipulation of the law for the sake of copyright extortion!? Nintendo and others need to back off and realize that the world of emulators and video game bars are not going to just go away because their lawyers feel like there is an opportunity to senselessly protect the digital copyrights of games that are 20+ years old – it’s ridiculous!

What harm is coming from normal citizens peacefully gathering together to play classic games on our beloved aging consoles while having a few drinks? Who is this hurting? We should boycott ALL new video games in order to stop this madness!

In the vast majority of cases, we are talking about games that are no longer even in libraries of sale rotation. This means that Nintendo and others are losing NO money by the playing of these games in these bars. If anything, video game bars serve to strengthen their brand recognition through the nostalgic social harmony achieved when the games of everyone’s youth are combined with the setting of the nightlife environments of cities such as 大阪市 and 東京 where they are highly popular.

Nintendo…Sony…you can’t and won’t stop us, so cease trying! Rise up everyone and make your voices heard – we will not accept this infringement on our digital culture! Keep this up and you’ll get what they got in Việt Nam when Blood+’s Saya went crazy!
