Something happened in recent years as the internet and technology created the ability for anyone willing to talk to have an online voice (such as this very post). The barrier to entry for becoming a journalist/columnist dropped to nearly zero as the ability to host a blog or submit writing to an online media site became so easy that all one really needed was to be able to somewhat coherently type their thoughts, regardless of how ridiculous they may be.
What this means is that the internet and online media sites these days are drowning in the chaos of the opinions of absolute idiots – usually far left leaning liberals, but not always. For whatever reason, it seems that the people who want to complain the most about something end up being liberals as they bitch, piss, and moan about everything under the sun. When there is nothing to complain about, they will find something to condescendingly form opinions on without fully understanding the reality of how said concept actually works, and then go online and post their ignorant thoughts revealing just how idiotic they are and the depths to which their misunderstandings about life reach.
Why do the loudest and most heard voices belong to this unintelligent subset of the population? Perhaps most people that actually understand life are too busy working real full time jobs and paying taxes to waste their time with such meaningless and pointless endeavors as stupidly complaining online about the randomest shit, but certainly the liberal component of America is not. The best part is that they very smugly strut around thinking just how smart they are and how dumb everyone else is because others don’t understand things like liberals do… it’s quite a phenomenon to witness.
Let’s take a look at this Jalopnik article by columnist Bradley Brownell as an example…
Well I guess we can start by saying “no SHIT” police chases are indeed dangerous and yes, it would be nice if we had less of them, but what is assininely strange about the stance Brownell takes on this is that he seems to be alluding to the police being in the wrong for chasing someone who has broken the law….what??? It seems like this guy literally thinks anyone that runs from the cops should be let go and that in order to reduce the number of chases it should be on the police not to pursue criminals, rather than on the criminals not to break the law and not run from law enforcement…
So the story is that the guy in the Smart car was accosted by police in a Walmart parking lot for yelling or some other conduct however he:
“…refused to talk to police, walked over to his Smart and drove away. Police followed the Smart out of the parking lot where they tried to pull him over…”
A chase ensued after the suspect apparently ran “several stop lights…” which went on for over ten minutes down the interstate highway until eventually police were able to get the car stopped and apprehend the suspect.
First…dude evading the police itself is a crime and grounds for arrest without considering any other aspect of what happened here. When the police want to pull you over, you pretty much have to pull over – regardless of whatever grounds they may or may not have to do so. The point is that deciding whether to stop for the police or not is NOT the way to handle whether you think they have legitimate grounds to question you or not – which you honestly can’t know until you talk to them. There could be a brake light out or ten thousand other things which they have the right to delay you over that you may be unaware of.
Brownell apparently doesn’t understand this little fact of life, no doubt because he’s a liberal dumb ass who spends his time sitting around complaining at everything his small mind doesn’t comprehend – much like a five year old yelling “not fair!”.
He then goes on to quote certain stats around how deadly police chases are and various other things to supposedly support his forever flawed and indefensible point of view that if criminals run, they should just be let go. What he doesn’t quote are the rules that various law enforcement agencies and departments have put into place to mitigate high speed chase deaths, such as following at a distance and utilizing air support as the primary means of tracking until a method of halting the suspect’s vehicle can be put into place.
Brownell even goes so far as to say about those suspects who end up dying in the chase:
“Those who had committed a crime or were suspected of committing a crime, were precluded from their right to a fair trial, and their lives ended prematurely.”
This is likely the most retarded thing he’s said the whole time because it was the SUSPECTS THEMSELVES that chose to run and therefore they themselves declined their right to trial in the event that running would result in their deaths. What are the cops supposed to do, nicely talk them off the ledge? Mr Brownell… if a suspect runs, no one twisted his arm to do so, he of his own free will decided to risk his and others’ lives, including the police officers’ – who Brownell doesn’t seem to care anything about.
“There was nothing indicating that the man in the Smart was a threat or a danger to anyone. Without interference from these overzealous officers, it’s entirely possible the Smart driver would have gone on the rest of the day without committing any traffic infractions. Spike strips and a pit-maneuver for allegedly running a red light? Give me a break.”
WOW this guy is a complete idiot of a columnist. A suspect by default shows that he’s a threat and a danger when he refuses to halt for the police and instigates a high speed chase! While “…it’s entirely possible the Smart driver would have gone on the rest of the day without committing any traffic infractions…” none of that matters because he already committed an arrestable offense by fleeing from the police! Not to mention the question of what would make anyone think the driver is going to abide by the rules for the rest of the day after already flagrantly breaking them…? Dude makes zero sense.
Be careful with sites like Jalopnik because the level of credibility and intelligence that some of their columnists are exhibiting threatens to dumb down all who read their nonsense. The amazing part is that he continues to try (key word is “try” here) show that he’s right as he battles with commentors who have actual brains. It’s entertaining to say the least…

Saying it like it is.
